Abstract：Rao Zongyi made great achievements in lyric poetry study, including literature collection, music pattern study, researches of lyrics written in Qing dynasty, Dunhuang Folk Music, criticism of Lyric Poetry Study, lyric works, and so on. Rao Zongyi read extensively, collected rare editions cautiously. He was a scholar with unique insights in lyric poetry study. With the publishing of Collection of Lyrics written in Qing dynasty, Collection of lyrics written in Ming dynasty, and Dunhuang Folk Music, Rao Zongyi collected materials within more than 1000 years, greatly contributing to Lyric Poetry Study. What is more, Rao Zongyi also published many papers, mainly focusing on Dunhuang Folk Music, lyrics written in Song dynasty, and lyrics written in Qing dynasty. He also gained artistic attainments in his own works.
